Reporting Timeline for Web site

Immediate Posting

Fatality Crashes -- Troopers investigating fatal crashes will contact Iowa State Patrol Communications as soon as practical and provide minimum information. This information will be posted. Updates will be updated as appropriate

Serious Personal Injury Crashes --Serious Personal Injury Crashes- Troopers investigating serious injury crashes that may result in a fatality, or would be such as to draw media interest will contact Iowa State Patrol Communications and provide minimum information to be posted. Additional information will be posted as Crash report is completed.

Other significant traffic event or incident that maybe noteworthy.

Major Incidents or Arrests that would likely generate media attention can be posted at the discretion of the ISP Supervisor. (i.e. hostage situations, Standoffs, major narcotics seizures provided release of information does not jeopardize an investigation.)

Posted 3-4 days

Full Reports -- Troopers investigating property damage crashes will turn in reports to district office. Once approved by supervisor, they will be posted to the web. (Some reports will have to be typed into system by district secretary and take several days to be posted)

Incident and arrest reports -- (This feature will be added at a future date.)

Posted 5 to 10 days

During winter months when crash volume is high (Snow Storm), crash information could take days to post. Some information may not be available with in this time frame if investigation is ongoing. Minimum information should be posted in this case for fatality and serious injury crashes.

Incident reports filed during special events -- (This feature will be added at a future date.)
