NARRATIVE

UNIT ONE WAS SOUTHBOUND ON INTERSTATE 35 WHEN THE VEHICLE ENTERED THE MEDIAN. UNIT ONE STRUCK THE SUPPORT PILLAR OF THE UNDERPASS OF 120TH. THE DRIVER WAS TRAPPED AND HAD TO BE FREED BY MECHANICAL MEANS. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED SERIOUS INJURY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. THE DRIVER WAS TRANSPORTED TO CLARKE COUNTY HOSPITAL BY CLARKE COUNTY AMBULANCE AND THEN TRANSPORTED TO MERCY BY MERCY AMBULANCE. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE CONTACT WITH THE DRIVER'S WIFE AND MADE NOTIFICATION TO HER ABOUT THE COLLISION. ON JULY 2, 2011 AT 1405 HOURS, JUAN MENCHACA DIED FROM THE INJURIES HE SUSTAINED IN THE COLLISION.
