NARRATIVE

VEHICLE #2 IS A LARGE UTILITY TRAILER BEING PULLED NORTHBOUND ON I29 IN THE RIGHT LANE. V2 IS BEING PULLED BY 1998 GMC PICKUP SD PLATE 46W807. V2 IS TRANSPORTING A LARGE SPECIALTY MACHINE USED TO PROCESS MILKWEEDS. V1 IS NORTHBOUND ON I29 IN THE LEFT LANE AND WAS PASSING V2. V1 DROPPED OFF THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ROAD ONTO THE SHOULDER. THE DRIVER STEERED HARD BACK ONTO THE ROADWAY. V1 ENTERED INTO A CLOCKWISE YAW. THE FRONT END OF V1 STRUCK THE DRIVER SIDE AXLES OF V2. THE DRIVER OF V1 STATED HIS STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP PRIOR TO LOSS OF CONTROL. THE STEERING WHEEL FUNCTIONED NORMALLY UPON MY ARRIVAL. THE SENSATION OF WHEEL LOCK UP MAY HAVE BEEN FROM THE STEERING WHEEL CATCHING THE PAVEMENT EDGE WHEN THE VEHICLE DROPPED OFF THE ROADWAY. V1'S PATH OFF THE ROADWAY, TO IMPACT, AND AFTER IMPACT WAS INDICATED BY TIRE SCRUBS VISIBLE ON THE ROADWAY. PHOTOGRAPHS TAKEN BY ISP 486.
