NARRATIVE

UNIT ONE HAD JUST TURNED (LEFT) EASTBOUND ONTO HIGHWAY 30 FROM THE NEWHALL CORNER (W14) AND WAS IN THE LEFT HAND LANE. UNIT ONE WAS ATTEMPTING TO GET UP TO HIGHWAY SPEED. UNIT TWO CAME UP BEHIND UNIT ONE IN THE LEFT LANE. THE DRIVER OF UNIT TWO ADMITTED TO HAVING THE CRUISE SET AT 70 MPH. THE DRIVER OF UNIT TWO THEN REALIZED UNIT ONE WAS TRAVELING AT A SLOWER SPEED. UNIT TWO PANICKED, APPLIED THE BRAKES, AND SWERVED TO THE RIGHT. THERE WAS TRAFFIC ALREADY OCCUPYING THE RIGHT LANE. THE DRIVER OF UNIT TWO THEN SWERVED BACK INTO THE LEFT LANE AND COLLIDED WITH UNIT ONE ON THE RIGHT REAR QUARTER PANEL. UNIT ONE CAME TO REST ON THE INSIDE SHOULDER OF HWY 30. UNIT TWO CAME TO REST IN THE SOUTH DITCH OF HWY 30.
