| NARRATIVE |
UNIT 1 WAS EASTBOUND ON HAMILTON COUNTY ROAD D-20 WEST OF I-35. UNIT 2 WAS WESTBOUND ON HAMILTON COUNTY ROAD D-20 WEST OF I-35. THE DRIVER OF UNIT 1 WAS OPERATING THE VEHICLE WITH HIS HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS ON AND APPROACHING UNIT 2 AND; BECAME FATIGUED, FELL ASLEEP, CROSSED THE CENTER DIVIDING LINE, STRUCK UNIT 2 IN A SIDESWIPE ONCOMING DIRECTION, WAS SPUN COUNTER CLOCKWISE INTO THE WESTBOUND DITCH AND CAME TO REST ENTANGLED IN A FIELD FENCE IN THE WESTBOUND DITCH. UNIT 2 DRIVER; SIGNALLED THE DRIVER OF UNIT 1 OF HIS HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS, NOTICED THE VEHICLE WAS CROSSING INTO HIS LANE OF TRAVEL, WAS STRUCK BY UNIT 2 IN A SIDE-SWIPE ONCOMING DIRECTION, WAS SPUN COUNTER CLOCKWISE AND CAME TO REST IN A NORTHEASTERLY DIRECTION, ON THE ROADWAY, IN THE WESTBOUND LANE. SEATBELT USAGE PREVENTED SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. ALCOHOL USAGE IS SUSPECTED AS A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR IN THIS CRASH. NO INJURIES WERE OBSERVED, REPORTED, NOR COMPLAINED OF BY ANY OCCUPANT INVOLVED IN THE COLLISION. |
