NARRATIVE

VEHICLE #1 WAS NORTHBOUND ON INTERSTATE 35 IN THE RIGHT LANE AT ABOUT THE 46 MILE MARKER WHEN HE HEARD A POP AND FIRE STARTED COMING UP FROM THE LEFT SIDE OF THE PICKUP. HE PULLED TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER AND THAT IS WHEN THE VEHICLE BECAME ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE DRIVER CALLED 911 TO REPORT THE FIRE. SOMEONE THEN STOPPED TO PICK HIM UP. THEY TOOK HIM UP TO THE FLY J IN DES MOINES. STATE RADIO CALLED HIM BACK AND TROOPER TRACY BOHLEN #467 PICKED HIM UP AND BROUGHT HIM BACK TO THE SCENE.
