NARRATIVE

VEHICLE 1 WAS MERGING ON TO INTERSTATE 80 WESTBOUND AND VEHICLE 2 WAS IN THE OUTSIDE LANE. VEHICLE 2 STATED THAT HE SAW VEHICLE 1 COMING FROM THE ON RAMP AND WAS CHECKING HIS MIRRORS TO CHANGE LANES INTO THE LEFT LANE WHEN HE NOTICED A VEHICLE IN THE LANE. VEHICLE 2 LOOKED BACK AND SAW THAT VEHICLE 1 HAD MERGED INTO THE OUTSIDE LANE AND TRIED TO BRAKE AND TRIED TO AVOID VEHICLE 1. DRIVER OF VEHICLE 1 SAID THAT WHEN HE WAS MERGING HE WAS AT 55 MPH WHEN HE ENTERED THE LANE OF INTERSTATE 80. BOTH VEHICLE CAME TO STOP WITHIN APPROXIMATELY HALF MILE FROM THE END OF THE MERGE AREA OF THE OFF RAMP. VEHICLE 1 HAD DAMAGE TO THE PASSENGER REAR OF THE VAN, WITH THE BUMPER AND QUARTER PANEL RESTING AGAINST THE REAR TIME CAUSING IT TO BE TOWED. VEHICLE 2 HAD THE FRONT RIGHT BUMPER PRESSED AGAINST THE TIRE, VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN.
