NARRATIVE

UNIT 1 WAS WEST BOUND ON I-80 IN ROAD CONSTRUCTION FOR THE CEDAR RIVER BRIDGE. DRIVER SLOWED TO 55 MPH FOR ROAD CONSTRUCTION AND WAS IN THE LEFT LANE WITH CRUISE CONTROL SET. SUDDENLY, THE CAR SPUN TO THE RIGHT, HYDROPLANING ON THE WET ROADWAY. UNIT 1 STRUCK THE RIGHT JERSEY BARRIER, SPUN AROUND AND CAME TO REST IN THE ROADWAY. THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER REMOVED DEBRIS FROM ROADWAY AND STOPPED AT A SAFE LOCATION TO REPORT ACCIDENT. THE CAR WAS EQUIPPED WITH DRAG RADIAL TIRES ON THE REAR AXLE WITH LITTLE TRACTION.
